CLBH Dedicates Memorial Garden to its Founder
Over 100 past residents, friends, and supporters of the Campbell Lodge Boys' Home attended a dedication ceremony and reception for the newly
constructed Fr. Nieman Overlook Memorial Garden, on Father's Day, Sunday, June 20. Long-time friend, Nick Clooney, served as Master of
Ceremonies on a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
The Memorial Garden, which overlooks 20 majestic miles of the Ohio River, is a joint project of the Campbell Lodge Board of Directors and the Campbell Lodge Alumni. The garden was built to honor Fr. Nieman by providing a peaceful setting on the Campbell Lodge grounds where visitors can rest, pray, or meditate.
Father Raymond Nieman founded Campbell Lodge Boys' Home in 1958 as a residential alternative for neglected or dependent young men. Since then, nearly 2,000 young men have called Campbell Lodge home. The present year-round, five-day residential program for pre-adolescent and adolescent boys aged ten to eighteen offers a treatment program that includes a balanced blend of counseling and therapy, the teaching of social skills, and milieu-based opportunities for the enhancement of academic skills, the development of leisure time and recreational competencies, as well as a range of daily structured activities in which to learn and practice interpersonal and communication skills.
